Tricep Press Down


The tricep press down is the most popular tricep building exercise using in gyms around the world. The tricep press down is an isolation exercise, and when performed using correct technique the tricep press down fully isolates the tricep muscles. Tricep Press Down
Exercise Name: Tricep Press Down
Equipment Used: Cable pulley machine and bar
Muscles Worked: Tricep
Variations: reverse grip tricep press down, single arm tricep press down
How To Do:
  1. Adjust the cable machine so the pulley is as high as it goes and attach the bar
  2. Grip the bar palms facing down with your hands just inside shoulder width and pull it down until your forearms are parallel to the floor - this is the tricep extension starting position
  3. Keep your elbows tucked in, and straighten your arms. Your arms should be extended fully
  4. Now lower the weight back up until your forearms are parellel to the floor again (starting position)
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for desired reps

Good technique tips: Make sure you keep your feet firmly planted on the floor and your elbows tightly tucked in at your sides.
